Anita Semadeni – I built you a home

On August 31, the first solo exhibition of the Art & Media student Anita Semadeni opens at Milieu in Bern.

The simple room. The simplicity of a bathtub or a chair and its importance that has not been sufficiently taken into account. Anita Semadeni explores space, its depth, its limits, its dissolution. She cuts and disassembles, reassembles and combines again. She scratches open and sews back together, she stratifies and peels off again. The original is never concealed, but remains visible. What was, is and remains. Sometimes smooth, sometimes rough. Sometimes shiny, sometimes matt. The gesture always remains subtle. Injuries in the surface remain fine, are never brutal. All overlaying layers remain transparent and let the hidden shine through. It's more about fine nuances than hard contrasts. The pictures are sublime and yet again concrete. (press text)
