  • Publications Webshop

    The university's publications can be purchased online via the Publications Webshop.

  • Publications Repository ZOPAR

    The Publications Repository ZOPAR (ZHdK Open Publications in the Arts Repository) makes eligible ZHdK publications publicly available.

  • Output Directory

    The Output Directory shows an overview of the research and publication activities at ZHdK.

Strategy and projects

The promotion of pioneering publication activities is anchored in the university's strategy, and is understood to extend beyond the framework of the institution. Thus, ZHdK experts contribute to relevant external projects and nationwide programmes.

  • Strategy

    Artistic research, more than other areas of research, is increasingly pushing classical publication formats to their limits. ZHdK is known for its innovative publications, which the university explicitly backs. The university's commitment to the promotion of digital, hybrid and Open Access publications is stipulated in its publication strategy.

  • Projects

    The ZHdK is currently involved in the following projects of the swissuniversities “Open Science” program:

    • Open Access Strategies for Arts and Music (OASAM) is under the lead of the University of Basel and has been submitted for the Open Science Call “Long-form publications and other publication formats”.
    • The ZHdK is represented on the Sounding Board of the GOAL 2.0 and National Diamond Open Access Consortium projects.

    From 2022 to 2024, ZHdK was involved in three projects of the swissuniversities "Open Science" programme:

    • Open Science for Arts, Design and Music (OS-ADM) supports researchers and teachers in the arts, design and music in the production and publication of open content. At ZHdK, innovative publication formats were promoted as part of this project.
    • The Platinum Open Access Funding (PLATO) project aimed to further promote sustainable Diamond Open Access publishing in Switzerland. It created an overview of Swiss Diamond Open Access journals (PLATO study), developed sustainable funding and support models and built a community.
    • The GOAL project (Unlocking the Green Open Access Potential in Scholarly and Professional Journals in Switzerland) focussed on promoting the so-called green path of open access in scientific and application-oriented journals. Such journals are particularly relevant for universities of applied sciences and universities of teacher education.
