    Material Archive

As an sector-independent and interdisciplinary network, MATERIAL ARCHIV imparts knowledge about materials and is aimed at a broad audience.

It comprises different material collections, which are based on the focus areas of the respective location. Together with the online database, which was jointly set up as a digital reference guide, they offer well-founded access to material knowledge.

Creative occupational groups from architecture, design and art as well as students, scholars and trainees can find a wealth of information about traditional and innovative materials here. In the different collections samples of the materials can be experienced with all senses, compared and investigated.

The database is embedded in swisscovery catalogue under the scope "swisscovery". You can refine your search via the options for  "Collection".

    Collection ZHdK

    Material-Archiv at the ZHdK

The material collection showcased in the gallery level of MIZ is a flexible space,  the use of which ranges from application-oriented materials research to the study of contents of materials. Materials can be studied from various angles and perspectives and in relation to criteria like moulds, connecting elements and objects. Works created at the ZHdK such as design process studies or material experiments are exhibited as examples of use.

Thematic presentations will shed light on materials under semantic, ecological, avantgardistic or creative aspects and they offer a platform for project introductions and idea workshops.
