International Early Music Week

    “TIME LEAPS"

Chamber music, Baroque dance, ensemble performances and lectures
    International Early Music Week 2027
    22–26 February

The International Early Music Week 2027 is dedicated to periods of new beginnings, change and reorientation. The focus is on how music and other arts responded to historical, political and social upheavals, whilst at the same time helping to shape these changes. Defining turning points such as the musical innovations around 1600, Corelli’s work around 1700 or the death of Johann Sebastian Bach in 1750 open up perspectives just as fascinating as those offered by the French Revolution of 1789. Course participants explore music as a reflection of its time and bring to life how new forms of artistic expression emerged from historical upheavals.

    Tutors:
    Barbara Leitherer, Baroque dance
    Monika Baer, Baroque violin
    Claire Genewein, transverse flute
    Andreas Böhlen, block flute
    Tabea Schwartz, block flute
    Arianna Savall, triple harp
    Niels Pfeffer, lute
    Michael Biehl, harpsichord and fortepiano
