Objectives

Objectives

Participants consolidate their interdisciplinary, practical and theoretical professional qualification in clinical music therapy as well as their skills in scientific work.

In particular, graduates of the MAS programme are able to:

  • Develop their own scientific findings and experiences into an MA thesis, and use an informed research question to acquire in-depth knowledge of a specific topic from the theory, practice and research of music therapy
  • develop clearly focused music therapy questions and answer them with the help of an appropriate research design, carry out the evaluation according to scientific quality criteria and critically reflect on the results
  • review indications and contraindications for music therapy on the basis of music therapy research results
  • to modify their repertoire of methods in a differentiated way and adapted to the clientele;
  • deal with theories relevant to music therapy in a differentiated way, compare them critically and relate them to higher-level models of thought, the image of man, the understanding of illness and social issues
  • to network internationally with professional colleges for scientific discourse, and to use the available resources economically.
