CAS in Orchestral Conducting (basic)
Practical work with ensembles forms the core of this program. In addition, individual tuition reinforces the fundamentals of orchestral conducting. The program’s artistic and curricular focus, as well as individual learning needs and goals, are determined jointly.
Participants also have the opportunity to observe classes in the major in conducting and gain further insights into various aspects of orchestral conducting.
CAS Orchestral Conducting (Intermediate)
Building on the introductory course, this CAS deepens and expands the knowledge and skills acquired. The strong practical focus is achieved through workshops with orchestras in Switzerland as well as week-long courses abroad with student and professional orchestras. The program includes three to four workshops with orchestras in Switzerland, as well as one to two courses abroad. Individual tuition with two individually selectable time contingents, class hours in ensemble conducting and the opportunity to sit in on the major in conducting complement the programme.
The “CAS in Orchestra Conducting intermediate” is a requirement for admission to the “DAS Music Practice/Core Subject Orchestral Conducting”.
CAS Orchestral Conducting (Advanced)
This CAS is designed for advanced conductors. As part of several one-week courses abroad, participants work with student and professional orchestras. In the process, they deepen their rehearsal and concert experience, further develop their conducting technique, and expand their repertoire by engaging with complex scores.
In addition, participants have the opportunity to observe classes and master classes in the Conducting major. Interaction with students and faculty provides further insights into different working methods and artistic perspectives.
The «CAS in Advanced Orchestral Conducting» is a requirement for admission to the “MAS Music Practice/Core Subject Orchestral Conducting”.
All three CAS programs in orchestral conducting conclude with a written reflection. This reflection addresses the individual learning goals established at the beginning of the program and the student’s personal learning process.
