    Programme objective

    The two โ€œCAS Choral Conducting (Basic)โ€ and โ€œCAS Choral Conducting (Advanced)โ€ programmes build on an individual assessment and include the following study objectives:

    Choral Conducting (Basic)

    • Effective use of a simple baton technique
    • Detailed analysis of choral scores of moderate difficulty
       

    Choral Conducting (Advanced)

    • Work at a professional level; adaption of conducting technique and rehearsal methodology to the style of music
    • Work with literature covering a wide range of styles (in particular, A Capella, oratorio and 20th century)
    • Advanced knowledge of working with an oratory repertoire (orchestral conducting for oratorio and cantatas)
    • Specialization in the professional field

      Qualification

      The course of study concludes with a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS).
      The certificate describes the work involved (classroom instruction and self-study) and confirms successful participation in the course. No grade is given.

      The degree includes a written reflection on the individual learning objectives formulated at the beginning of the course of study and the learning process that has taken place. This is submitted to the main subject lecturer and the administration office at the end of the academic year.
