More: CAS UI/UX Design

Admission requirements, costs and enrolment

Target audience
The CAS UI/UX Design course is aimed at designers with at least five years of professional experience who are looking to expand their knowledge and skills in dealing with digital publications such as websites, apps and interfaces.

Students from related fields such as industrial design, marketing, software development, etc. are recommended to attend the CAS Fundamentals of Typography beforehand. This continuing education programme teaches the basics of graphic design.

Requirements
An education in the field of design is required: graphic design, visual communication, typographical design, etc. A Bachelor's degree is not mandatory. For example, typographers who would like to deepen and expand their crafting skills in the digital field are also welcome.

Work experience of at least five years after graduation is also required, with a workload of at least 60%. As proof of professional experience, applicants must submit a dossier with samples of their work, at most one of them from their training (approx. 5 projects of 5 to 7 pages each, PDF).

Course participants must bring their own laptop.

Letter of motivation
A letter of motivation explains the reason for wanting to attend this continuing education programme and provides information about special interests and existing experience.

Required knowledge/skills
About a third of the training is about prototyping and UI design. We work with the software Figma, which is very well documented online. It is advisable to learn basic operations before starting the training. (Download: UI Design Guide, PDF). Another third of the training deals with technical topics. In particular, HTML and CSS are dealt with in depth. It is therefore recommended that basic knowledge be acquired or refreshed through suitable courses before beginning the training. (Download: Guide to Coding, PDF)

No professional experience in coding and Figma is necessary. The reason for the recommendations formulated here is that the time spent in continuing education should be invested in questions that are as interesting and relevant as possible. To this end, it makes sense for participants to be able to master simple steps under their own steam right from the start.
