Students develop and condense personally formulated topics as part of the Mentored Project Development in the Arts module in consultation with a mentor. The focus is on those areas that are relevant to the professional practice of individual participants, and are not covered by a regular CAS course. Students bring with them their own project sketch with a written proposal for a topic for a project, an installation or a product; or submit a description of a professional topic that would be expanded through mentoring. This relates to their own professional practice, and is specifically relevant to them. The Mentored Project Development module can also support individuals who are facing professional challenges that carry a higher level of responsibility and complexity.
A mentor is nominated based on the project sketch and a discussion, and the individual training steps and mentoring timetable are agreed upon.
The mentoring component consists of five hours of tuition to assist with the identification of resources and solutions as well as 30 hours of independent work on the participantโs project (mentoring report), a written evaluation of the unit by the participant (final report) and the confirmation of the reports.
Each mentoring discussion is documented by a mentoring report (length: approx. 1/2 page per hour of mentoring). These reports summarize the discussions and define the next training steps. These reports are lodged with the Centre of Further Education Secretariat upon completion of all discussions. Lodgement is mandatory.
The final report (length: two pages) includes a written evaluation of the mentoring by the participant. The choice of format and presentation of the final report (e.g. as a graphic, film, piece of music or documentation) is open to the participant.
Following the lodgement of all reports (five or ten mentoring reports, and the final report), completion of the Mentored Project Development in the Arts module will be confirmed in writing.
Should the participant wish to continue training on completion of the Mentored Project Development in the Arts module, the option of continuation in the form of a CAS or MAS at ZHdK can be discussed with the Head of the Centre of Further Education. It is possible for the Mentored Project Development in the Arts module to contribute towards the assessment of academic achievement for a CAS or MAS qualification in a specific area of professional development specialization at ZHdK.
