    Student Lifecycle Management

    • Our responsibilities
    • Contact

The Student Lifecycle Management team provides administrative support to students throughout their studies – from application and admission right through to graduation.

We are responsible for the formal processes relating to your studies and provide support with administrative matters. This includes admission and enrolment, the management of student data, the organization of changes to your details during your studies, as well as graduation procedures and the issuing of degree documents.

    Our responsibilities

    • Information on application procedures and admission requirements
    • Formal admission and enrolment
    • Issuing of enrolment and place confirmation letters
    • Administration of minor subject choices; registration for, withdrawal from, and discontinuation of minor subjects
    • Management of semester status
    • Issuing of semester invoices
    • Collection of statistical data and invoicing to the federal government and cantons
    • Management of student data relevant to the federal government and cantons
    • Handling of graduation procedures and the issuing of diplomas
    • Issuing of copies of diplomas, certified copies of diplomas and replacement documents
      • Copy of diploma: Provided that a photocopiable original document is available, a copy of the diploma may be made. ZHdK can certify, by means of a stamp, that this copy matches the original. The Higher Education Office or a notary’s office may also issue a certification.
      • Certified transcript: Diplomas are issued exclusively as single originals. A certified transcript (in the language of the original document) may be produced from the original documents. The fee for this is CHF 250, payable in advance.
      • Translation of degree certificates: The translation of degree certificates is the responsibility of students / alumni. This can be carried out by a translation agency of your choice, certified by a notary and, if required, further certified by the State Chancellery of the Canton of Zurich.
    • Processing of title conversions and issuance of certificates of equivalence
      • Diplomas with titles under the previous legal framework (FH, HGK): Titles awarded under the previous legal framework remain protected even after the transition to the Bachelor’s/Master’s system. Holders of these titles may also use the title ‘Bachelor of Arts’ – ZHdK can issue a certificate to this effect. No title conversion will be carried out.
      • Diplomas without an FH or HGK title: Holders of diplomas without an FH or HGK title may apply to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI) to have their diploma converted into a university of applied sciences diploma. Only then can ZHdK confirm that the title ‘Bachelor of Arts’ may also be used.
      • In accordance with the decision of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology (BBT), dated 10 January 2011, no certificates of equivalence to a Master’s degree are possible in the field of art (degree programmes in Art and Visual Design).
      • Certificates of equivalence to a Master’s degree can, in principle, only be issued in the Department of Music.
      • Requests for copies of diplomas, transcripts, title conversions and certificates of equivalence must be made in writing by email. We require the following information from you: Please allow one week for delivery, as your archive file must be retrieved in every case.
