    Study and teaching quality

    dekoratives Bild

The study and teaching quality is evident in how the study and continuing education programmes are implemented, in the teaching aspects, in the study conditions, and in the feedback culture. It initially manifests itself in and is assessed, ensured and enhanced by students, lecturers and directors using a range of instruments to facilitate the process:

      • Surveys

        Student surveys

ZHdK regularly collยญยญects student feedback on course and teaching quality, study conditions, and on the realities of student life. It uses this information to develop the degree programmes and also for strategic decision-making purposes.

        Graduate surveys

ZHdK evaluates the data of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), which carries out a regular Switzerland-wide, standardized, anonymous survey of university graduates.
Several disciplines carry out their own surveys among their graduates as well.

      • Evaluations and monitorings

Student feedback on teaching and learning

Lecturers, students, and heads of programme reflect on the quality of the teaching based on student feedback, and compile development topics for learning and teaching at ZHdK.

        Evaluation of continuing education programmes

The quality of the curricula, the lessons and the teaching itself is regularly audited in every continuing education programme.

      • Quality assurance processes

The Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK) approval process

By going through the approval process of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK), ZHdK ensures that its Upper Secondary School Teaching Diploma Secondary Level II meets the statutory requirements and is thus recognised all over Switzerland.

        External peer review

This procedure is a development-focused review undertaken by independent external agencies, which examine study and learning/teaching as well as research according to internal and external quality standards. Every department carries out a review every seven years.
