    Hybrid events | Digital displays

Hybrid events are so much more than an "emergency solution" during the pandemic. In future, they will continue to offer opportunities for people to engage and participate where physical restrictions and time constraints would previously have prevented them. Such formats also make it much easier to reach a broader and more international audience and to improve the university's ecological footprint. What challenges arise in hybrid events for artistic presentation, especially in relation to performative practices? What interactions can we observe between digital displays and artistic forms of presentation?

Addressing these and similar questions has shown that remarkable hybrid event formats are the creative achievement of organisers who know how to choose the appropriate digital tools and platforms for a specific setting, and employ these technologies in state-of-the-art ways. That today's high standards for inclusivity and international orientation are met is a given. The conscious and careful selection of tools and infrastructure plays a crucial part for the success of hybrid events; more is not necessarily more here.

    • Digital Art – a panel discussion on digitalization and art

A new hype is sweeping the world – and the art world in particular: Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are currently revolutionising the art market. What do we make of this phenomenon? Will art and our understanding of it change as a result of digitalization? What are the implications for artists, institutions and collectors? A panel of experts from various cultural fields addressed these and related questions as part of the Swiss Digital Days. An audio recording of the panel discussion is now available.

    • "What comes, what goes, what stays? Hybrid event formats in art and design"

Digital formats are playing an increasingly important role in art and cultural institutions in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic. More and more museums, art associations, galleries and art colleges are offering digital  experiences and formats for sharing artistic and theoretical content. The "Share & Discuss" workshop "What's coming, what's going, what's staying?" by Marie-France Rafael and Maike Thies discussed the possibilities and potentials of hybrid event formats for the future of ZHdK and beyond. An audio recording of the event (in German) is now available.
