    Research Field Politics of Display

One of the central questions within a world of media composites and remediation concerns the ways of how seeing is organized, how the represented is framed and contextualized, and how meaning is thereby (re)produced. ICS research projects in this focal area address the manifold forms of representation and participation, as well as the effects of cultural, ethnic, social, and gender differences within artistic and design practices and techniques. Its research explores exhibition strategies, display strategies in advertising and cultural institutions, media constructions of information, visualization practices in the arts, science, and daily life, and the development of visual apparatuses and digitized processes of representation. Projects examine the interactions between art and non-art, high and low, and design practices in various areas of society.
