        Anna Schürch / Art Education

        Teaching:
        • Lecturer and member of the core team of the Master of Arts in Art Education, specialization in Teaching & Learning (her core subjects being art education theory and theory construction, teaching methodology, and research methods)

        • 2008–2010 contract faculty at ZHdK in the Bachelor of Arts in mediation of art and design and in the Foundation Course (core subject of art contemplation)

        Research:
        • Project leadership of the Research Laboratory for Arts in Schools (FLAKS) at ZHdK’s Institute for Art Education
        • 2013–2015 research associate for the FLAKS’ “Calculation and contingency” research project
        • Since 2008 responsible for the conceptual development of the research focus “Bildungstheoretische Analyse und historische Aufarbeitung des Fachs Bildnerisches Gestalten in der Schweiz” (doctoral thesis)
        • Research associate at the University for Design and Art (HGK) in Basel for the research projects “Perform Space” 2003 and “The Situated Body” 2005–06)

        Art education:
        • 2007 Freelance team member for documenta 12 exhibition in Kassel
        • 2002–2008 collaborated on, managed and was a member of the board for the Kaskadenkondensator in Basel, an independent project space for contemporary art and performance. She especially investigated the mediation of performative art within the project “Performance Chronik Basel” project

        Positions:
        • 2006–2008 research associate at ZHdK’s Department of Cultural Analysis and Mediation, assisting with the development of the Bachelor and Master of Arts degree programmes in Art Education
        • 2000–2005 Assistant in the study programme for teachers of fine art at the HGK Basel

        • 2005 Postgraduate study in “Design | Art & Innovation” at HGK Basel

        Training and artistic practice:
        • Studies of applied theatre arts in Giessen
        • Production of theatre and performance projects in various constellations (including transeuropa 2000, Darmstadt state theatre, and the people’s theatre in the Prater district, Vienna).
        • 2005–2011 dramaturg and theatre pedagogue at the Theater an der Parkaue, Junges Staatstheater Berlin

        Research and teaching:
        • Since August 2011research associate at ZHdK: Collaboration in the Research Laboratory for Arts in Schools (FLAKS); monitoring and providing support to theatre pedagogues who have an interest in developing and researching issues that have arisen in the course of their teaching practice
        • 2013–2015 research associate for the FLAKS’ “Calculation and contingency” research project

        • Concomitant research and evaluation of projects on the topic of “Cultural education at schools”

      • Courses involved

        The following Master of Arts courses are involved in FLAKS: Art Education, Music Education with specialization in School Music and the Bachelor of Theatre Pedagogy. It is hoped that interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary cooperation between research, teaching and professional practice will become an ongoing cycle.
      • FLAKS Advisory Committee

        The FLAKS Advisory Committee meets twice a year, providing critical discussion and an examination of current undertakings to support the project, and also helping to steer the project. Moreover, the Advisory Committee helps to increase the activities that FLAKS is involved in.
        Members of the FLAKS Advisory Committee:
        Ruth Frischknecht, head of the Master of Arts course in Music Education, specialization in School Music, ZHdK.
        Edith Glaser-Henzer, lecturer in fine arts theory and teaching methodology at the Northwest Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (FHNW) (retired).
        Jürg Huber, school music educator and musicologist, and research associate at Lucerne University of the arts (HSLU).    
        Heinrich Lüber, head of the Master of Arts in Art Education programme with specialization in Teaching & Learning, ZHdK.   
        Mira Sack, head of the theatre pedagogy specialization for the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, ZHdK.   
        Martin Schmid, a secondary school music educator at Rämibühl Cantonal School, MNG, Art and Sports Secondary School.
        Clemens Steiger, secondary school music educator and member of the school board at Freudenberg Cantonal School.
