Nina Willimann is an artist and theatre practitioner. Born on the banks of the Sure, she has lived on the banks of the Aare and the Rhine, and is currently based between the Sihl and the Limmat.
In 2010, Nina co-founded the Swiss-Chilean group Trop cher to share, based in Biel, whose stage projects explore the colonial entanglements between Switzerland and Chile. Nina Willimann has been collaborating with Mayumi Arai since 2015. The work of Willimann/Arai straddles the fields of art, research and social intervention. In collaboration with visitors, local communities and experts, they develop context-specific arrangements and polyphonic forms of storytelling based on research-led working processes. Willimann/Arai have participated in numerous exhibitions across Europe and Asia. Their work has also been supported by, amongst other things, creative residencies from the City and Canton of Zurich. In addition, Nina Willimann works as a choreographer, performer and dramaturg for various theatre projects and teaches at the ZHdK on the ‘Diversity Politics and the Arts’ minor, specialising in ‘Postcolonial Perspectives’, as well as occasionally on the MA in Transdisciplinarity.
