BA Design: Visual Communication

Communication is omnipresent, in all conceivable forms. Its skilled design is therefore required more than ever. The world's first-ever systematic graphic design course was run at one of ZHdK's predecessor institutions. This longstanding tradition of innovation remains alive to this day. Our Specialization in Visual Communication combines conventional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art insights and technologies, both conceptually and formally. Our declared aim is to open up for visual communication new forms of expression and new fields of social relevance. Coursework develops wide-ranging skills for visualising information and for designing communication. Students learn how to use both analog and digital media. Practical assignments stem from the worlds of business, science, and culture.
